TDI Rebreather Intro to Cave Diver Course
TDI Rebreather Intro to Cave Diver – CCR Cave Diving Foundations
The TDI Rebreather Intro to Cave Diver Course is designed to expand the skills learned in cavern training and introduce divers to the techniques required for safe cave diving while using a closed-circuit rebreather (CCR).
Cave diving is one of the most demanding forms of technical diving. Divers must maintain precise buoyancy control, disciplined team communication, and strict dive planning procedures while navigating overhead environments.
During this course, divers learn how to conduct limited cave penetrations using a continuous guideline system, while maintaining proper trim, propulsion techniques, and situational awareness.
The course focuses heavily on safety procedures, guideline navigation, and gas management while diving with a rebreather in overhead environments. These skills form the foundation for more advanced cave exploration and prepare divers for programs such as TDI Rebreather Full Cave Diver.

Training Standards
Minimum Age
18 years old
Maximum Training Depth
40 meters / 130 feet
Prerequisites
• Certified TDI Rebreather Cavern Diver or equivalent
• Certified CCR Diver (Air Diluent CCR or equivalent)
• Minimum 50 logged dives and CCR experience recommended
These prerequisites ensure divers have sufficient experience before conducting CCR cave dives.
What You Will Learn
During this course you will learn:
• Cave dive planning and risk management
• Continuous guideline navigation techniques
• Buoyancy and trim control with a rebreather
• Gas management and bailout procedures
• Emergency procedures in cave environments
• Team communication during cave penetration
These skills prepare divers for more advanced CCR cave diving programs.
Certification
After successfully completing the course, students will receive the TDI Rebreather Intro to Cave Diver certification.
Graduates may conduct CCR cave dives within the limits of their training while following a continuous guideline and maintaining safe penetration limits.
Divers may continue training with:
• TDI Rebreather Full Cave Diver
