TDI Decompression Procedures Diver Course
TDI Decompression Procedures Diver – Learn Planned Decompression Diving
Take the next major step into technical diving with the TDI Decompression Procedures Diver Course. This course teaches divers how to safely plan and conduct staged decompression dives that go beyond the limits of traditional recreational diving.
In recreational diving, divers are trained to stay within no-decompression limits. The Decompression Procedures course introduces divers to the techniques, equipment, and planning required for planned decompression diving.
Students learn how to conduct dives that require mandatory decompression stops while maintaining strict control of buoyancy, gas management, and team communication. This course focuses heavily on precision, discipline, and safe dive planning.
With a maximum training depth of 45 meters / 150 feet, this course represents the first true step beyond standard recreational diving limits.
The TDI Decompression Procedures course, together with TDI Advanced Nitrox, forms the foundation of nearly all other technical diving programs.

Course Schedule
Typical course duration: 3–4 days
Training includes:
• Classroom / theory sessions
• Equipment configuration workshops
• Land drills and dive planning
• Minimum 4 open water training dives

Training Standards
Minimum Age
18 years old
Maximum Training Depth
45 meters / 150 feet
Prerequisites
• Advanced Nitrox Diver (or equivalent)
• Minimum 25 logged dives
• Advanced level recreational certification
These requirements ensure divers have adequate experience before beginning technical decompression training.
What You Will Learn
During this course you will learn:
• Planned decompression dive planning
• Gas management and gas switching procedures
• Decompression breathing gases and oxygen use
• Equipment configuration for decompression diving
• Buoyancy control during decompression stops
• SMB deployment and ascent procedures
• Emergency procedures and contingency planning
These skills allow divers to safely extend bottom time and conduct staged decompression dives.
Certification
After successfully completing the course, students will receive the TDI Decompression Procedures Diver certification.
This certification allows divers to plan and conduct staged decompression dives up to 45 m / 150 ft within conditions similar to their training.
This certification also prepares divers for more advanced technical programs such as:
• TDI Extended Range Diver
• TDI Trimix Diver
• TDI Advanced Trimix
