TDI Rebreather Cavern Diver Course
TDI Rebreather Cavern Diver – CCR Overhead Environment Training
The TDI Rebreather Cavern Diver Course teaches divers how to safely use a closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) while diving in cavern environments. Cavern diving takes place in overhead environments where natural light from the entrance remains visible and divers stay within a safe distance from the exit.
This course focuses on the additional considerations and hazards involved when combining rebreather technology with cavern diving. Students learn the procedures, equipment configuration, and dive planning techniques required for safe CCR cavern dives.
During training, divers develop precise buoyancy control, efficient propulsion techniques, and strong situational awareness while operating a rebreather in overhead environments.
The objective of this program is to teach the proper planning, procedures, and safety considerations for rebreather cavern diving within the limits of the cavern zone.
This course is not intended to train divers for full cave diving but provides the foundation required for more advanced programs such as:
• TDI Rebreather Intro to Cave Diver
• TDI Rebreather Full Cave Diver
Course Price
$1000 per student
Included
• Academic theory training
• Rebreather cavern dive planning workshops
• CCR equipment configuration training
• Cavern environment safety procedures
• Open water cavern training dives
• Professional technical diving instructor guidance
Not Included
• TDI eLearning materials: $140
• Cave dive site entry fees
• Gas fills and absorbent materials
• Rebreather equipment rental
Course Schedule
Typical course duration: 3–4 days
Training includes:
• Classroom / theory sessions
• Rebreather system drills and checklists
• Guideline navigation practice
• Multiple cavern training dives
Students will practice safe navigation, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures in cavern environments.
Training Standards
Minimum Age
18 years old
Maximum Training Depth
40 meters / 130 feet (or within diver certification limits)
Prerequisites
• Certified CCR Diver (TDI Air Diluent CCR or equivalent)
• Certified Cavern Diver or equivalent
• Minimum 50 logged dives
These prerequisites ensure divers have sufficient CCR experience before entering overhead environments.
What You Will Learn
During this course you will learn:
• CCR system configuration and checks
• Cavern diving safety procedures
• Guideline navigation and placement
• Buoyancy and trim control using a rebreather
• Gas planning and bailout procedures
• Emergency procedures in overhead environments
These skills provide the foundation for advanced CCR cave diving training.
Certification
After successfully completing the course, students will receive the TDI Rebreather Cavern Diver certification.
Graduates may conduct CCR cavern dives within the limits of their training while remaining in the cavern zone.
This certification also prepares divers for advanced programs such as:
• TDI Rebreather Intro to Cave Diver
• TDI Rebreather Full Cave Diver
